Sometimes players get into discussing minutiae that is unimportant or irrelevant to the game situation. Particularly if they start trying to apply real world knowledge or thinking to situations where their characters wouldn't know or do such things.
A trick you can use in such cases is to change the situation so that their discussion becomes irrelevant. After all, enemies aren't stopping to listen to the heroes discuss probability or quantum mechanics or whatever. They're just going to keep attacking, or closing to combat range, or blowing up the hospital, or whatever their plan is. So have that happen and just keep describing events getting progressively worse until your players pay attention and start doing something.

*Zoom-in*
Wow, there really is a dot there. I wonder if that's actually this starfighter; that's extremely zoomed in if so. Rey's practically got Legolas eyes to see that far away. Though if the Force vibe gets stronger as the dot comes around the mountain, she wouldn't need to care what kind of ship it is to know that's the bad news.
Either way, if it is Kylo's starfighter, I wonder why he's coming in so early. Only Chewie's been captured so far; everyone else can still fight back!

Rey: Okay, so if I got one vibe near the ship, how far do I need to go to get a triangulation fix?
Poe: You’re walking perpendicular to your initial detection vector, right?
Rey: Of course.
Poe: If you tell me the range, I can work out how far Rey needs to walk.
GM: It’s not that... precise.
Poe: Hmmm. Need better resolution. Try spreading your arms to reduce your beam size.
GM: That’s... not how the Force works.
Poe: So not like a radio telescope in the middle of a sheep paddock?
Rey: It’s just the vibe of the thing?
GM: Yeah.
Poe: But the formula—
GM: Is moot, because Rey spots a PIE Whisper starfighter rounding a distant mountain and closing fast.
Rey: Ah, visual detection!
Poe: Just a sec... <scribble scribble>
[SFX]: vreeeeooooowww... {a magnified inset panel coming off a small dark dot in the distance shows the PIE Whisper screeching towards Rey}
Poe: Assuming a rough horizon distance and desired accuracy of about 100 metres... You just need to move your eyes a few hundred metres apart.
Rey: That’ll give me a splitting headache.
