Helmets are generally useful for things like not getting your head caved in by weapon blows, but they definitely have drawbacks.
Although, given the advantage is not getting your head caved in by weapon blows, it really helps you live with those drawbacks. Or, you know, just live.

Oh, I guess we're back here again. This feels more like the remainder of the scene we'd left a bit ago than a cut back to this location. It doesn't look like the sort of scene to have left extra dialogue for later at least.
Hey wait. Does this mean we'll be getting another scene of Kylo with the burnt helmet again later? I could see that happening, perhaps with it being smashed or something as well. That's based only on comic reasoning mind you; it'd be a way to have Kylo take the Japor snippet and try using it for himself. I think it's a little odd to have the helmet around in the first place, but it'd be even weirder for this movie to have Kylo just smash it after that previous scene.

GM: Let’s finish off Kylo Ren’s meeting with Snoke.
Snoke: That ridiculous helmet... You’re obsessed with Darth Vader. You don’t even know who Vader was.
Kylo Ren: Anakin.
Snoke: Wrong!! Vader was Padmé Amidala!
Kylo Ren: What?
Snoke: Padmé wore that helmet for two reasons. To conceal her identity, and to house the Japor snippet that would prevent Palpatine from killing her.
Kylo Ren: Japor snippet?
Snoke: Vader was hiding for a reason. What’s your reason? You’re just a scared child in a mask.
Kylo Ren: How do you know all this?
Snoke: What does your helmet give you, besides bad hair?
Rey: Poor peripheral vision!
Chewbacca: Breathing difficulties!
Luke: Second place award for Daft Punk cosplay!
