Scenery being on fire is a cool way of adding atmosphere to a setting. It can either be burning constantly (e.g. The World is Not Enough), or intermittently - think of the Fire Swamp in The Princess Bride.
Need to make a scene more interesting? Just add flames!*
* Although not highly recommended for sylvan Elven forests. Unless you really want to, of course.

Hmmmm, still no sign of Kanata. Or any other patron prisoners for that matter. The Protagonist/Player-centered plot armor is working out fairly well so far, at least on the "no instant death" aspect. Zeppo seems to want to push it to absurd levels however. The only way splashing any of these troopers in the face could work is if the glasses are filled with fast-acting acid. Or plasma of some kind; that would work too.
It totally doesn't fit the mood, but to me, it looks like a couple of the troopers in the last panel decided to start dancing.

GM: Back to Finn, Chewbacca, and... uh... Zeppo.
GM: The troopers march you away, across the smoking ruins of the bar.
Zeppo: I don’t suppose there’s any chance of getting a drink?
Trooper 1: Aren’t you a teetotaller, Zeppo?
Zeppo: Oh, yeah, I mean... so I could tip it out with disgust. Obviously.
Zeppo: My plan is to splash it in his face as a distraction, so we can escape!
Chewbacca: And what about the other two dozen troopers with guns trained on us?
Zeppo: I don’t suppose there’s any chance of getting twenty-five drinks?
