Episode 2065: Razing the Bar

<<FIRST     <PREVIOUS     NEXT>     LATEST>>

A proper villain should always do things before the heroes get a chance to stop them. (Reference that famous story that we won't spoil, but if you know it, you know the one we mean.) Unlike your typical James Bond villain who prefers to explain their plan to the heroes, thus giving the heroes time to prevent it from happening.

In your games, try to make villains have their plans well underway before the heroes even find out about them.

Oh no, a bar got attacked; how horrible. Ok, this is more damage than the Broken Drum Mended Drum ever had, but it's still just a smallish bar on a random planet. We haven't even been told that Takodana is in Republic space; why would the Republic, new or old, be concerned with a bar getting flattened?

Man, I completely forgot that Kylo wanted the map originally. That is totally a legit way for Rey to get out of immediately dying here. Extra bonus for Kylo having discounted the droid as being important as well. Is this going to be the point where Pete tries backstabbing Corey this game? It's not a good solution for either of their characters, but it delays immediate death for Rey at the very least.

The lightsaber there looks a little weird in the last frame; almost like it's got some electrical arcs running up the side of the long blade. I'm curious if this is an artifact of the frame interpolation like in this comic or if it's an intentional change to the lightsaber to try and make it cooler. For what's meant to be a plasma containment tube, I don't think electrical problems would be a good thing to have there.

Transcript

Kylo Ren: Rey Solo, we meet at last.
Rey: Kylo Ren. The New Republic will not sit still for this. When they hear you’ve attacked a bar—
Kylo Ren: Didn’t you hear? Chandrila is destroyed. The Republic is no more.
Rey: When did—
Kylo Ren: A few minutes ago. It seems General Hux actually did something right for once.
Rey: You fiend!
Kylo Ren: Now, what shall we do with you? Lord Snoke wishes you dead. But I hear you have a map to Luke Amidala.
[SFX]: whmmm...
Rey: Maybe I do, maybe I don’t.
[SFX]: Whooom! {Kylo holds sword near Rey’s throat}
Kylo Ren: And that map is the only thing keeping you alive!
Rey: I definitely have it.
