We've talked about cliffhangers a bit, but honestly it's not necessarily a great technique to end a session on such a dramatic note. While it may keep players on the edge of their seats in anticipation of the next session, it can also be a bit tiring and clichéd.
It's often better to end a session in a period of down-time, in between significant encounters or events. This gives players a bit of breathing space, and the pause in play can correspond to time passing in-game. When you reassemble a week or a month later to pick up the game, having a relatively eventless week or month pass in-game can feel more natural than picking up at the exact second that you stopped last time. Some games apply this rule rigorously, to enforce the passage of time in the game, lest it slip into Webcomic Time.

Okay, never mind on the "Not completely destroyed"; that's not a survivable crash. Gotta hope that's just ship number two without Chewie now. It's also curious that Ben hasn't said anything yet. Maybe that's just the comic format not lending itself to him reacting as well (like Corey), but maybe he knows something the others don't.
And the GM ending the night there? With the reaction shots? This feels like Alderaan Naboo blowing up back in Episode IV. This scene probably didn't have the same effect for people watching the movie though.

{slow-mo sequence of panels of the ship exploding and falling to the ground with silent horrified reaction panels from Rey and Finn}
Kylo Ren: And that is how you win a Force Arm-Wrestle.
Rey: Wow. That was so evil. And it worked.
Finn: You blew up Chewie!
Rey: Honestly? That just makes it better.
GM: ... Let’s call it a night there.
