Episode 2615: Full Metal, Hell Met

<<FIRST     <PREVIOUS

Sometimes significant items break. Or they should.

If people in your party are using interesting items, maybe magical or technological, and they play a significant part in the game, consider having them get broken. NOt necessarily on a whim, but as a potential setback if they do something silly, or a dice roll goes badly wrong under pressure, or whatever game mechanics might indicate that Something Bad Happens. You can even shift damage from a character onto an item if you have to.

The reason for doing this is to get the equipment involved in the narrative, and to provide new and interesting problems for the players to solve.

Commentary by memnarch (who has not seen the movie)

Oooooooo! Nice to see that Kylo's getting his helmet fixed. That really helped make up for his childish behavior and other..... issues. Threatening masked man head tilting in your face or destroying a computer bank? That's scary. Visibly upset man trying to be threatening and/or destroying stuff? That's rather sad. But now the helmet has glowing red lines on it; that almost makes up for the tantrum of smashing the helmet in the first place!

The real question now is does Kylo let this alien live or will this be another entry in the long line of old timey fictional design and knowledge protection? Normally, I'd think nothing of the logistics here as Darth Vader never randomly killed people. Kylo is much more volatile, and we've already seen him killing a bunch of random people to get the Tetrahedron of Evil at the start of the movie.

Albrekh: {voiced by Sally} Pieces stubborn. Want stay broken. Helmet remember pain.

Kylo Ren: The red seams pulse like angry veins set in iron.
Kylo Ren: I lift it, still warm. It doesn’t quite fit the same.
Kylo Ren: That’s good. I’m not the same.

BB-8: Wow. Okay. Someone got their goth poetry published.
