Episode 411: Elementary, My Dear Obi-Wan

<<FIRST     <PREVIOUS     NEXT>     LATEST>>

We've mentioned before the fact that Episode II revealed that there are shapeshifters in the Star Wars universe. And the fact that this is interesting and potentially story-altering, because you can never be sure who you are really talking to.

But Episode II also makes a major plot point out of advanced cloning technology. Combine these two science fiction concepts and the whole game changes. Anyone could be anyone. Or a clone of anyone, as opposed to the original anyone. And again, absolutely nothing is made of the potential problems of identity that this interesting concept can cause.

So here's an out-take strip, as part of the between-Episodes intermission.

Transcript

Obi-Wan: I've followed Jango Fett to Geonosis. Count Dookû is here, with the Separatist leaders.
Obi-Wan: He has the Peace Moon plans. And it looks like the Separatists are planning to use Jango's clone army.
Mace Windu: First shapeshifters, now clones?
Anakin: Master Windu is right. What if they cloned a shapeshifter?
Padmé: Anyone could be a shapeshifter!
Obi-Wan: I'm trying to finish my report here...
Padmé: I bet half the Senate are shapeshifter clones!
Senator 1: Well darn, that's my cover blown.
Senator 2: Me too.
Senator 3: And me.
Bail Organa: Yo.
Senator 4: Also a clone.
Palpatine: As indeed am I.
Senator 5: Yup.
Senator 6: Alas, I am discovered.
Senator 7: Crud.
Senator 8: Yep.
Senator 9: And here.
Senator 10: There goes my ticket to power and fortune.
Senator 11: Yep, I'm one too.
Jar Jar: Mesa too.
